Scenes from the 2011 Door County Wearable Art Show
The Sister Bay Village Hall was the perfect indoor venue for our first annual sisterhood reunion in the heart of Sister Bay. Fiber artists and friends from across the country gathered in the county to celebrate the joy of the creative spirit. A couple of the dress forms shown need new outfits to replace the ones sold.
Patrons couldn't get enough of Pat Rued's hand painted and dyed cotton and silk coats, jackets and scarves. They were even more astonished to find out that the garments began as bolts of white cloth before Pat transformed them into canvases worthy of a gold frame.
Leading the FUN is MONA! from Hendersonville (Asheville area), North Carolina with her upcycled jackets and sweaters along with a rare appearance of her trademark hand painted shoes. For 2012 expect to see even more hand painted clothing to match her "magic mirror." Thanks Mona Groban for the photos.
Facets Fashions by Mary Mendla
Mary Mendla was literally a blur of activity assisting customers with her Basic Elements and Seasonal collection of jackets, tops, leggings and accessories. New for 2012 is her Nia Line of dance and exercise wear, called Affluere, which continues her tradition of impeccable fit with flair. It's clothing for the multi-faceted life of today's woman.
New Jewelers for 2012
New jewelers will be participating for our second annual gathering including Nancy Krahn, Skye and Peter Ciesla and Marcy Farber, who has expanded her clothing line to include collage pieces. Returning is the grande dame of bold, Polly Daeger.
Nothing says success at a wearable art show like empty hangers in paradise. Come join us August 25 and 26, 2012 for a bigger, better, yet intimate boutique experience.
